Bios:
David Zaragoza Gutierrez is originally from the small town of Benavides, Texas. Before pursuing a career in law, David worked extensively in theatre. Selected credits include: directing – Crossroads, Hotel De Fools, and Jews in my Basement (world premieres, McKinney Repertory Theatre), Don Nigro’s Glamorgan (Zero Untitled), Sarah Ruhl’s Eurydice (Independent), P. Seth Bauer’s Iphigenia (Billy Ryan High School, Denton, TX); Assistant Director – Oedipus El Rey (Dallas Theater Center), Blue Roses (world premiere, Lyric Stage, Irving, TX), With Blood, With Ink (professional world premiere, Fort Worth Opera Festival); Assistant Stage Manager – Songs for a New World, Soho Cinders (US Premiere), Christmas Our Way (Uptown Players); supernumerary/stage extra – Boris Godunov, La Traviata, Turandot (The Dallas Opera); David is also author of the short plays Wandering Blvd. and Red Roses All Over Me.
During law school, David did two summer internships at the Nueces County District Attorney’s Office in Corpus Christi, where he assisted prosecutors in researching various criminal law matters and sat second chair with the prosecution for two aggravated assault trials. He also worked as a summer intern at the U.S. Attorney’s office in Corpus Christi where he researched various federal criminal law issues and even helped prepare an international extradition affidavit. During his final semester of law school, Mr. Gutierrez interned part time at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Houston, working in the asset forfeiture and financial litigation section. While in law school, he also assisted the Gutierrez Law Firm in preparing for appellate litigation, which was eventually successful in 2020.
David has a BA in Political Science from Texas A&M University-Kingsville, an MA in Drama from Texas Woman’s University, and JD from South Texas College of Law Houston. He currently practices law in Houston, Texas.
