The NYC Musical Workshop 1: Developing the World & the Want
NYC Musical Development Series at CreateTheater
The NYC Musical Workshop 1 is officially confirmed for Sunday, April 26th 2026 at 12 noon ET. The workshop will last for approximately 4 hours.
You’re about to step inside a professional musical development environment where new work is presented, evaluated, and discussed by NYC industry leaders in real time.
What You’ll Experience
As an auditor, you’ll get a rare inside look at how musicals are actually developed:
- 🎼 Live Presentations of songs and scenes in development
- 🎤 Professional Feedback from NYC producers and industry panelists
- 🧠 Structured Teaching on musical storytelling and craft
- 💬 Industry Dialogue — not just notes, but how professionals think about the work
This is the room where writers learn what makes a musical work.
Why This Matters
Most writers never get to hear how industry professionals really respond to new material.
In this workshop, you’ll:
- See what lands — and what doesn’t
- Understand how structure impacts storytelling
- Learn how professionals evaluate readiness for development
- Begin to think like a producer, not just a writer
