LAST NIGHT AT THE RUE BAYOU, a new musical, by Mike Meth!

The evening is framed as a typical, ebullient night at the Rue. There is a line-up of musical acts that perform songs representing a spectrum of regional styles–Jazz, R&B, Blues, Cajun,Zydeco, Second Line and more. In the course of the show, the story of the Rue Bayou is played out before us by the “family”–the employees and regulars for whom the club has given love, joy, life.

As the evening unfolds, astute audience members may notice some “bread crumbs” that all is not what it seems. These include voodoo/hoodoo iconography, allusions to storms, ensemble members who are “spectres”, and musical acts that look and sound like they have appeared from a time gone by–as if everyone who contributed their song to the Rue is still resonating.
